Trip to Kanban ??????????????

I am in the middle of trying to organise a trip to the Kanban outlet in Shipley Yorkshire sometime in February/March and most probably on a Saturday. :D :D

I will be booking a 14 seat minibus to go from the Derbyshire area (further details to follow) to Shipley, in Yorkshire to visit the Kanban outlet, arriving about 10 in the morning and leaving around 3 in the afternoon. The cost of course will depend on the amount of interest we get :D

So would anyone care to join us for a great day out, catch up on some natter and of course replenish our dwindling supplies :lol: :lol: :lol:

Happy New Year

to all of our followers. Hope you have all survived the Christmas period and didnt get too sozzled on New Years Eve.

We had our first group session last night since 14 December and what a lovely productive night we had. I made 2 birthday cards for my lovely grandson Josh who will be 8 on 9th January, Sylvia was colouring some digis for DT cards that she has to complete and Clare was cutting out some 'Flippin' decoupage sheets and assembling them. Our lovely Jess forgot that we were meeting again so she sat at home crafting.

We are in the process of organising a trip up to the Kanban Factory Shop in Shipley, West Yorkshire. Hopefully we will be taking a minibus and will be offering some places to our crafty friends, so if you are interested then leave us a comment and we will let you have more details once we have finalised the details.

I am about to update our themes for the next few months and if there is anything you fancy trying why dont you come and join us.

I shall take my sewing machine in with me and some backing papers and lots of card to practise on...watch this space, after 3 hours i may just have learnt how to sew...

Clare's goodie bag

Thank you Clare for providing us with the lovely goodie bags ...they were great. The papers, brads (which were scrummy and very blingy), sentiments and sticky ribbon were all from a docrafts goody bag and the stamp is a huge one from papermania.

No Elke this week at the group as she is still surrounded by packing boxes but hopefully she will be back to join in the fun next week.

Let's Hear it for the Boys....

Oh heck...men's cards, don't know about you about i struggle with men's cards!!!! I went to the Stamp Magic show yesterday with Elke and we saw some great men's cards but no doubt by the time i get to craft club i will have forgotten what i saw.

We did however spend some of our award money on some great craft stash for the group.

Remember we make everyone welcome and think tomorrow we are having pancakes for a snack...yummy scrummy. So not only will you get friendly people, some great inspiration but we will even save you a pancake and a cuppa.

Have a great evening, me i am off to pack my tote before making hubby his dinner (oh aren't i a good wife)????

that was the theme last night...why because we have lots to celebrate at our craft group...recent funding, new members and Jess back from her hols...LOL

Can't show you what i made though as i used the time to make my projects for the DT's that i belong to...will pop the piccies on next week, I also made a bit of a spooky card too with lots of purple and black card and sparkly papers.

Ok off to do dinner for hubby and then need to take dogs for a nice long walk

We had one of our favourite themes, goodie bags!!!!! It was Sylvia's turn to supply the goodie bags for us to use and as usual she managed to make them challenging. Shame Clare couldn't make it last week, you missed a great challenge Clare.

This week the theme is 'Congratulations' we will have to see what everyone comes up with.

Great time had by all...

Sketches...was the theme and what great sketches we had too. Clare was on a role and made 4 beautiful cards using her craftwork cards goody bags. Elke made 2 stunning cards for DT work and i made a card for my very poorly sister in law and 2 children's cards from an animal antics pack i bought from trimcraft.

I shall pop some piccies up very soon but bit busy at the minute as i have lots of things to do before i wizz down to London with Elke for a fantastic weekend craft shopping and meeting up with some great friends. I am so excited!!!

Finally i would like to welcome our newest member to the craft group Tiffany, she was a breath of fresh air and a very talented young lady.

Sketches...

I am quite looking forward to craft club this week (well i do every week) because i love following sketches, which is just as well as i have had a fair few to do recently.

When i find a really good sketch i print it off and then pop it in my little notebook i made a while ago, and then when my mojo goes walk about i look in my little book for inspiration.

If you would like to pop along any week between 6 and 9 do feel free, we have a lovely big room with lots of tables and chairs and of course there is always a cup of tea for visitors.

I had a great time at craft club last night...we had a Barbara Gray evening ie we got out our ink pads (we got very messy too...especially me), dusters and brayers.

Barbara makes everything look so easy but we did struggle a bit last night and quite a bit went in the bin however, we all ended up making some great works of art. It was sooo nice to try something different

I will post some piccies later of a couple of things i had a go at when i have finished downloading the piccies.

that we haven't been around for a couple of weeks. We have been busy and unfortunately we completely let the blog slip.

Well last week we welcomed our newest member Clare to the group. Clare found us on Trimcraft and we hope that she enjoys what we do. I am sure she will speak up if she is getting bored.

Last week we shared our stamps again and had a stamping 'frenzy'. We brought our new LOTV stamps to share.

This week we made notebooks with our Bind-It-Alls, we all had a laugh and some stunning creations were made. Some of us didn't get as much done as others as there was so much chatting and laughing going on. I made my notebook, but will have to take it apart again as my wires weren't big enough. :( :( Never mind, I will get it finished tonight.

No group this week

unfortunately due to me having a migraine from hell, and I couldn't get the key to Sylvia, we had to make the decision to cancel the group. We don't like cancelling at short notice, but it would have been too far for Sylvia to travel to collect the key from my house and then get back to Loscoe to open up.

We are back to normal on Tuesday though, so why don't you pop by and join us. We are stamping next week, basically we bring our stamps in and share them to stamp images that we haven't got ourselves. We are like kids in a sweet shop, oohing and cooing over each others stamps.

Very very exiting news

as Sylvia already said I have got some very very exiting news to share with you all.

About 2 weeks ago I went to a funding event to see if there was any chance we as a group would be able to get some funding to help us a little bit along the way.

The lady that I saw was very positive about it all and we filled in a form there and then and she gave me another form to take away with me to apply for some more funding. I went to a meeting after work which was very productive and when I got home there was some post waiting for me. One of the letters contained a letter to say that we had been successful as a group and have been awarded some funding.

£250

to help us along. I cant believe that now after 2 years of trying we have finally been successful in getting some funding for our merry band of crafters. It will help us getting some much needed materials and to allow us to pay the room hire for a number of weeks aswell.

What a great result at long last.

Teepee Cards

What a fantastic night we had at craft group on Tuesday, 1st part of the evening though was spent filling in forms as we are hoping to get some funding for the group to enable us to buy new materials and equipment (mainly for the newbies).

The next bit was to make teepee cards...yikes i thought i haven't a clue!!! Elke to the rescue and she showed us how to make them so easily. We had lots of fun so i thought i would share the piccies of what we made

We didn't have a group meeting this week as Elke and Rob were celebrating their Wedding Anniversary (and had a fab time so i hear) and me and mine went out with some very special friends for a superb meal and lots of drinks.

I love doing the goodie bags, but this one was a toughie. Sylvia gave us a card and envelope and then gave us choices. Well me and choices dont really go together. I am a bit of a ditherer when someone gives me choices. I must have changed my mind a dozen times about what stash to pick.

But I agree with Sylvia they have turned out very well. We did have a good time and laugh a lot.

Here is a selection of goodies from the goodie bags i bought with me on Tuesday...this time i called them "choices" why...because they got to choose the image, the backing papers and then lots of lovely sentiments and embellishments. The papers and images were from a polka doodles cd "back to nature". I don't use cd's much but this one is so yummy full of lots of scrummy things, thought i should share some of them with the girls.

The first two are off my best friend Sylvia and Jess. And in the other one there is me aswell.

Opposite us was a stall from Derby College Broomfield with some guinea pigs, rabbits, a ferret, a snake and a couple of bearded dragons. Guess who drew the short straw having to take a photo of Jess stroking the bearded dragon???? ME, the person that cant stand reptiles!!!!!

Here is Jess stroking the bearded dragon. The girl from the college asked if I would like to touch it. NOOOOO WAYYYYYY. I turned and walked off very very quickly.

..... Heanor Festival for the day with Sylvia and Jess to advertise our little group.

The weather was really fantastic and my hubby Rob was very kind and brought us the gazebo down so we wouldnt burn. There were loads of people around and hopefully we may have enticed at least a couple of people to join our merry band of crafters. I have taken some photos with my phone, just need to download them so I can show them to you.

What we did last night

we are hoping to advertise our group on 26 June on Heanor Market Place during the Heanor Festival. As we need to show people what we create at the group, to entice them to join us, we have been working on a few things to take with us. If you anywhere near Heanor on 26th why not pop along and say hello!!

Also I have been 'shopping' at Vistaprint and got some postcards that we can hand out on the day and a gorgeous banner which arrived this morning. Will try and scan the postcards in a bit and pop them on for you to have a look at.

I thought I would just let you know what we did this week. Our lovely Sylvia was in Italy celebrating her special birthday. I cant really say how old she is now, it wouldnt be right would it.

Both myself and our little Jess made jewellery and Sandra produced some absolutely stunning cards. I managed to make 4 bracelets, a necklace and 2 pairs of earrings. Quite a productive evening dont you think.

Next week we are using our Bind-It-Alls. I cant wait as I have to make a bookmark for a swap. I have had a fantastic one from Emma who is on the Trimcraft Forum, so I will have to get my thinking cap on to make her a really nice one in return.

A bit quiet tonight

We missed 2 of our girls tonight, elke who is away in sunny bridlington, and tracy who is stuck at work!!!!

We didnt stick to the theme this week as there wasnt as many of us, so we each did our own thing(arent we naughty)

I had an ordered card to make which had a specific theme to stick to, so i thought id get on with that, and here it is!!!!

have added the 2nd one now...again i have used the costco papers but not such a girly bag this time!!!

I love these papers...they were from costco and are all double-sided so perfect for making this little bag.

We were all a bit naughty and came out with a few choice words whilst trying to get the folds right but once you have made one they really are quite easy.

I have partially made another one but not had chance to finish it yet..maybe later this evening after i have been to pilates or at the weekend

What we did last ...

We changed the theme for this week at the last session. Instead of making cards we decided to make gift bags. What a laugh. It seemed such a good idea at the time and the first couple of steps in the instructions went quite smoothly, then we got to the side folds. Let me tell you, they were not easy and I do think that we did turn the are a light shade of blue. But the results were absolutely stunning.

Sylvia has not taken a photo of her gift bags (she managed to make 2) and I am not sure whether Sandra has yet. They can always add them when they have taken their photos. Mine is below

I am not sure whether I will attempt another one but I am quite happy with my results.

PS What are we doing next week??? I am taking my Cricut and cartridges so the others can have a play. Not sure whether Tracy will be coming as she has got a Cricut aswell and she has brought hers in before.

wow what a night it was. I tried to make a Triple Twisted Easel card. Not very easy I will tell you.

I look at the tutorial and thought that will be quite easy to do, well it wasnt and I never even managed to finish the cards so I cant even show you what I have done tonight. Once I finish it I will take a photo to show you what I managed to make.

Sylvia had a go at making Double Twisted Easel cards. Not sure whether she managed to finish them or if she was like me and not quite managed it.

Will let you know when I find out.

Next week we have changed the theme from Recipe cards to making some gift bags, so if you fancy coming along to see what we do, feel free. We dont bite, honest.

This is the theme tomorrow night, making easel cards. I must say i really enjoy making them and have even had a go at a twisted one!!!!

So tomorrow night i shall be taking lots of card, pretty papers and loads of flowers to decorate the easel cards. I shall also take my camera and then you will be able to see what we have all made.

I think I can honestly say that we all love making cards from goodie bags. It is always nice to see what other people come up with when you all have the same stash to play with.

Goodie Bags....my favourite!!!

This week at craft club Sandra will be providing us all with goodie bags...yippee i love them!!!!

What's a goodie bag...well you could come along and find out or ..............oh go on then i will tell you lol

We each take it in turns to provide goodie bags for the whole group. So in each bag goes, a blank card and envelope, backing papers, and various embellishments ie ribbons, buttons, brads, peel offs and then there is usually a sentiment and finally an image. We usually give each person the same goodies but sometimes the colours may be different or the stamped image is changed. We then make a card with the goodies we are given, you can make whatever you like with them but you can't add any of your own stash to the goodie bag.

Lots and lots of fun i can assure you so come on don't be shy come and give us a visit and i promise to make you a cuppa (my turn)

Back to school !!!

Colouring in is our topic this evening...last week we stamped lots of our images onto good quality smooth cardstock ready for colouring in this week. Most of us use promarkers, i do have some copics and although i prefer the brush end of the copics i tend to use my promarkers the most...i love them!!!!!

If you know someone who lives in the Derbyshire/Notts area and would like to come and join us for a session please pass the word on. We shall make everyone welcome, new, old, young, experienced, beginners all welcome!!!

Well I went mad and stamped loads of sentiments for Natalie, my swap partner on Trimcraft, ready to send to her. Then I had a rummage through Sandras box of stamps and chose some of her images to stamp ready for colouring in next week when hopefully someone will show me how to do the shading of my stamped images properly.

If colouring is not your thing then if you join us I am sure we will be able to find you something else to do.

We would love to see some new members. We have a great time every Tuesday night.

Stamping frenzy tonight !!!

We shall all be bringing in our stamps this evening to our craft club and lots of card and ink. WE are a generous lot so we just share and then get to take home lots of lovely stamped images. I am taking my cuttlebug with me too and some lovely coloured card so that i can stamp some sentiments and then make scalloped backgrounds for them.

These are the little notebooks i made at the craft group last week, using my bind it all. It was nice to dust it down and make something different. I have used decoupage sheets from the smirk range as i thought these may sell well at the craft fayre we are organising in November.

As we are all going to be using our Bind-It-Alls, I intend to make a storage folder for all my unmounted stamps. For that I will be bringing some stiff card, backing papers and some acetate. I am not quite sure yet what I am going to do and how to do it, but I am sure something will pop into my head and it will work out in the end.

I have not been very well, got man flu and didnt want anyone else to be ill so I did stay at home last night. Instead I played with my new Cricut Expression. I managed to get it for a good price with loads of goodies to go with it.

I am not sure what the girls were doing last night. I think the theme was glamour puss which were to go with the challenge over at Creative Craft Challenges.

Last nights group session

well everyone, we used our Bind-It-Alls last night.

I made a note/shopping list pad for the NEC in November, Sandra made a Birthday Book that someone ordered from her. They both turned out really well, well mine did eventually. I smudged a part of mine and needed to finish it off at home which is what I have done now. Will take a photo of it and post it tomorrow as its a bit late now to start messing about with the camera now.

So I will post it tomorrow for you to look at.

Hi everyone

we had a great session this week stamping up images to colour in. Most of us got into a right state, black hands and nearly running out of card to stamp on.

We use each others stamps as it saves us having to buy more stamps, but then again you can never have too many stamps. I have been to Joanna Sheens site and have ordered another one, but it was a cheapie in the sale. Will have to get colouring now so I will have some images to use on cards.

I have also got another 'timetable' to do as we have come to the end of the current one.

The last few weeks

Hi everone

the last few weeks have been really really hective for me. I have been moving house and we have still not managed to clear the old house as yet. The craft group is doing really well and we are still meeting every week.

This week its a Free-for-all, this means that you bring whatever takes your fancy and do your own thing. Not quite sure what I will be taking but will sort something. We have a really good time and enjoy coming back week after week.

So if you fancy coming along just turn up, everyone is more than welcome. Hopefully we will see more and more members turning up. See you there hopefully

goody bags

well this week was my turn (sandra's) to do the goody bags which basically means that everyone uses the exact same crafting materials and makes a project with them, you can use your punches etc but the idea is that you get to see what different thing we can make with same stash,
why not pop along some time and try us out, we shall make you a cuppa and have a chat.

the past few weeks at creative minds craft group

Well the past few weeks have flown by, we have been really busy trying to advertise our lovely group to get more members, the result so far is that we have got a lovely lady new to crafting that has joined us for most weeks welcome to the fold hun,

The past weeks activities have been

waterfall cards
using our die cutting machines
our goodie bags (a firm favourite for all)
mothers day cards
a session stamping and colouring in our lovely images (which we supply if you dont have any)
the bind it all (this is a machine that helps you to make note books/calendars etc)
spring cards

Ok so you may not know what most of these are at the moment.......so come to our group and let us help you learn the different techniques etc,that is what we are here for.

Again its £2.50 per hour with materials/tea/coffee and niblbles included ......what a bargain and also a fab way to socialise an learn a new skill.

Last weeks group session

Hi everyone.

I only just realised that I didnt tell you what we were doing last week. We all brought in our Bind-It-Alls and made various little books. Sandra made a notebook, Sylvia made some wedding books, Jilly made a card organiser and I made an address book.

This is my address book. I am really pleased with the outcome.

Tonight we are using templates to make cards and/or boxes.

Will let you know later on how we all got on.

This week

Hi

we have had another group session tonight and were busy stamping and making more cards. We also designed a poster to promote the group and will be printing and distributing flyers so our group can grow and get local people interested in making cards and join our lovely group.

Next weeks session was supposed to be goodie bags, but I think we will change it to making notebooks with Bind-it-Alls as a few of us have got them. The person who's turn it is to make up the goodie bags is not able to come next week.

Hello everyone

I just thought I would let you know what is going on in the group.

We are meeting tomorrow night and the theme for tomorrow is Valentines Cards. I have not made any for a number of years and it will be a challenge for me. But that is what the group is all about, learn new things and be challenged.

Everyone is welcome to attend the group, we dont bite honest!!!
